A fugitive, wanted in two states for first-degree burglary and assault with a weapon charges, was apprehended outside the McDonald’s parking lot on Boston Post Road on Friday, according to authorities.
Christopher Arroyo, 43, was first identified by village of Mamaroneck police on April 18, after noticing his car, traveling on Madison Street, with an improper license plate frame that was obstructing his plate. Police probed and quickly learned that Arroyo’s New York state driving privileges had allegedly been revoked.
They also were able to link him to a multi-state manhunt in Las Vegas, Nev., and Carol Stream, Ill., for first-degree burglary and assault with a weapon charges. In Illinois, Arroyo was also allegedly hit with identity theft relating to a stolen ID and the issue or delivery of a forged document, according to authorities.
But Arroyo allegedly took off before police could take him into custody. Soon after, Mamaroneck police located Arroyo’s car shortly after 1 p.m., leaving the parking lot of a McDonald’s, located at 125 Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck.
That McDonald’s is located less than 5 miles from the Rye border.
Police pulled over his car and Arroyo was arrested “without incident,” according to police. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation — a misdemeanor — for knowingly driving a vehicle with a suspended license.
Both Las Vegas and Chicago police will be filing extradition charges, according to Mamaroneck police.
The “fully extraditable” warrants for Arroyo allow law enforcement to arrest and transport a fugitive back to the state where they are wanted.
Meanwhile, the suspect was arraigned in Village Court and remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.
