Four games – and 750 miles driven – in six days?
No problem for Peter Thomas’ Garnets.
Where, when, and who doesn’t seem to matter lately, as Rye defeated Clarkstown 7-2 Wednesday at Palisades Ice Rink in West Nyack, pushing its unbeaten streak to nine games.
Jamie Morris got Rye (9-1-1) started with an early first-period goal off an assist from fellow senior Will Weinman. Junior Jack McGill then got in on the act thanks to a tasty dish from sophomore Will Niejadlik.
After Clarkstown pulled even at 2-2, the scoring floodgates opened up for the Garnets in the second period. Senior Ryan Draddy scored a beauty, then sophomore Colin Nigro set up senior Cody Greenhaw to make it 4-2.
Nigro scored the next two goals, the second on an assist from sophomore Finn Draddy, for a 6-2 lead.
At this point, Rye back-up goalie junior Davis Goodman relieved Fernando Mosquera for a well-earned rest. Goodman performed beautifully, keeping Rye’s net unblemished for the rest of the game.
Freshman Connor Dehmer finished off the scoring courtesy of another Niejadlik assist.
Rye’s busy schedule resumes Friday with a 6:20 p.m. game against Rivertowns at Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford.
