Rye High senior Max Twyman smashed the 1,000-point mark for career points in basketball Wednesday night during an opening round Section 1 Class A playoff game against Sleepy Hollow High School.
The Garnets advanced with their 64-49 win, but lost to Eastchester on Friday. Eastchester, a No. 2 seed, topped Somers on February 13.
The Garnets were winning 35 to 28 shortly after Twyman hit a two-point shot to eclipse the career scoring milestone. He added a couple of free throw points just before halftime.
Rye was seeded 15th for the Sectional playoffs, while Sleepy Hollow was seeded 18th in the Class A outbracket round.
Twyman has played varsity basketball for four years, and started for three seasons.
He has been the team’s leading scorer for three years. This is his second year serving as team captain.
