U.S. Rep. George Latimer, a long-time Rye resident, took to the floor of the House of Representatives to sing the praises of The Rye Record.
“In my public career, I’ve had the opportunity to represent all 45 communities in Westchester and some neighborhoods in the Bronx,” Latimer explained. “Every one is different and has its own personality, people and activities. But, in the current day where the dearth of local news coverage is apparent, I’m fortunate to live in Rye, where the Rye Record fills that local need and tells us about all the things that are happening in our wonderful hometown. I wanted to recognize that public service before my colleagues in the House.”
Latimer, who represents New York’s 16th Congressional District, began his political career on the Rye City Council in 1987. He has held many elected positions with the city, county, and state and was Westchester County executive before being elected to Congress in January 2025.
