The Rye High School Class of 1964 planned its 50th reunion not only as a time to re-connect and celebrate, but also to raise $5,000 for a scholarship for a member of the Class of 2014.
The Rye High School Class of 1964 planned its 50th reunion not only as a time to re-connect and celebrate, but also to raise $5,000 for a scholarship for a member of the Class of 2014. The funds, which were collected through direct donations as well as a raffle, will benefit a Rye High student who is motivated, has shown improvement, and has direction for the future.
Alumni Kenneth Packer and Camille Houck recently visited the High School to present Principal Patricia Taylor with the check and, as a surprise, name her an honorary member of their class. Mrs. Taylor and other High School staff members will select the scholarship recipient.
“We are very proud of this accomplishment, and hope we will make a difference in the life of a 2014 Rye High graduate,” said Mr. Packer.
