Three girl golfers competed in the New York State High School Federation Girls Championship this month, and two — Alexis Hios and Jen Lee — placed among the top-20, earning All-State honors.
Hios, a sophomore, exceeded her own expectations by placing 12th, with a two-day score of 163. Lee, the Section 1 champion, was playing with an injured hand and placed a disappointing 18th with a score of 166. It marked the senior captain’s third appearance at States.
Freshman Frida Henningsson finished 31st with a score of 174. All three girls were named All-Section. The Section 1 team placed fourth overall at the College Golf Court at SUNY Delhi. A total of 72 golfers competed.
In boys’ State Championships at Cornell University, Senior Captain Andrew Gladstone tied for 58th place among 99 golfers with a two-day score of 167.
Gladstone hit the longest drive of the tournament and the Section 1 team placed third statewide.
