Some familiar names helped Rye girls soccer start the 2026 season in familiar fashion on Friday.

Coming off an undefeated state championship season, the Garnets are 1-0 once again, beating St. Mary’s 2-0 in the first game of the Hall of Fame tournament at Niskayuna High School in Schenectady, N.Y.

Sophomore Harkin Brown gave the Garnets a 1-0 lead off an assist from senior Charlotte Keenan in the first half. The second goal was scored by junior Hannah Jachman, off a corner kick delivery from senior Shira Rand.

Rye plays a second game in the tournament at 1:45 p.m. Saturday against Shenendehowa.

The Garnets are looking to start the season with two wins in the Hall of Fame tournament for a second year in a row. Last season, long-time Rye coach Rich Savage was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the beginning of a 21-0-3 campaign.
