The sound of singing voices and skipping feet filled the air as 170 pre-school children from the Port Chester Head Start program received certificates recognizing their successful completion of a yearlong arts enrichment music and art program at The Rye Arts Center. Over 500 parents, family members, and friends, along with RAC Board member Meg Rodriguez and City Council member Julie Killian, attended the six individual ceremonies held over three consecutive days at The RAC.
Once a week, the pre-school children come by bus from Port Chester to attend special art classes. “These children get much more than just creative experiences with art,” said Executive Director Helen Gates.
“We are grateful to contributors who provide critically needed funding for this arts education program, including Robert R. Wiener, Laurie and Rob Platek, The Rye Rotary Club, and WESTCOP,” Gates said.
