The Rye City Republican Club announced this week that it is resurrecting its old-time tradition of hosting a summer picnic/BBQ to mark the end of the Club’s meeting calendar. The picnic will be held June 24 from 4-7 p.m. at the Rye Recreation Damiano Center (lower shelter.) Individual adult tickets are $15, $30 for families. If you purchase tickets before June 17, you’ll receive a $5 discount. Checks may be mailed to the RCRC, Inc., P.O. Box 3, Rye, NY 10580, or tickets may be purchased online at www.ryegop.org.
Club President Matt Thomas said, “With the re-start of the Club, it has always been our goal to create an environment where people from Rye could come together on a regular basis to talk politics and discuss the issues of the day and do so in a social manner. Nothing could be more traditional and fun than an old-fashioned picnic and BBQ.” Thomas also noted that although the picnic is being billed as “Come to our Grand Old Party”, both Republicans and non-Republicans are welcome.
This year’s picnic will feature an opportunity to meet and hear from locally elected officials as well as candidates running for Congress, NYS State Senate, and the Rye City Council. The family-friendly event will include games and face painting for children, and food and drinks the whole family will enjoy.
The current iteration of the Rye City Republican Club was re-launched in March 2011, after a 15-year hiatus, with the election of a new seven-member executive board. The Club currently has over 50 members. It will resume its regular meeting schedule in September. For more information, contact Lori Adimari at 844-4354 or Lori.Adimari@gmail.com.
