A Greenwich woman was arrested in Rye for allegedly driving drunk while she had three children — all under the age of 12 — in the car with her.
Claudia Ruiz, 40, was pulled over by New York State Police while traveling northbound on I-95 in Rye on Sunday night for multiple traffic violations, the Daily Voice reported.
She showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests at the scene, authorities said.
Police detected Ruiz’s Blood Alcohol Content at 0.11 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She had three children, ages one, six, and 11, in the car when she was pulled over.
Ruiz was charged with three felony counts for a DWI, including being accused of driving drunk with children under 16 in the vehicle. She also faces a misdemeanor DWI charge and several traffic violations.
The most recent DWI arrests in Rye took place in February, when Lawrence Marks, 61, of Rye Brook blocked the roadway and sustained damage to the front of his 2019 Jaguar FPC. His BAC was 0.12 percent.
Then 30-year-old Jonathan Soto caused a two-car crash on Playland Access Drive with a BAC of 0.13 percent.
Ruiz is due in Rye City Court on May 13.
