A great number of Rye High School students who took Advanced Placement Exams in 2012 earned AP Scholar Awards. The College Board presents these awards annually to students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams. Each of the four recognitions – National AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar, and AP Scholar with Distinction – has a required minimum average score on AP Exams taken. In all four categories, Rye High’s AP students achieved average scores that surpass those listed in the criteria.
Seventeen students earned the status of National AP Scholars, with scores averaging 4.72. The status is presented to those who score an average of at least 4.0 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4.0 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Fifty-three students were named AP Scholars with Honor, with an average score of 4.08. The requirement for this distinction is an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3.0 or higher on four or more of these exams.
Seventy-two students were recognized as AP Scholars, with an average score of 3.73, while the recognition is presented to students who receive scores of 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams.
Ninety-six students were named AP Scholars with Distinction with an average score of 4.30. This title requires that they receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3.0 or higher on five or more of these exams.
