While visiting Florida to play baseball at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in April, the Rye High Varsity Baseball team volunteered at the Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families in Orlando. The facility provides dignity and healing services for children, families, and individuals who face overwhelming challenges such as abuse, trauma, developmental disabilities, and lack of access to medical care.
It was a busy few days for the team members. When they were not playing baseball, they helped out at the Howard Phillips Center by cleaning and detailing vans used for transit and organizing storage facilities on-site. The RHS coaches, Athletic Department staff, and administrators are proud of these students for their effort and willingness to make a difference in other communities.
