Over 100 parents, family members, and Scouts attended Rye Troop 2’s annual family picnic and Court of Honor at Rye Presbyterian Church on June 11.
Thirteen Cub Scouts advanced to the rank of Scout, underlining the active involvement of Scouts and their parents, who were also honored for their dedication and continuous support.
Advancements by 28 other scouts, bringing each one of them a step closer to the rank of Eagle Scout, were also recognized. Sean Howard was awarded the Eagle Gold Palm for his engagement beyond the rank of Eagle Scout.
During the event, a plaque honoring all Eagle Scout members of Rye Troop 2 dating back to 1924 was unveiled. The plaque will hang inside Rye Presbyterian Church. The troop was founded in 1920.
Scoutmaster William Haigney announced that he will pass his duties over to John Tobin in the fall, but will continue to stay active in organizing camping trips with the Rye Scouts.
