Rye Lions Seeks Award Nominees
The Rye City Lions Club is looking for nominations of deserving individuals for its James A. and Marian M. Shea Community Service Award.
Established in 2003, the award is given to someone who lives or works in Rye and has contributed to enhancing the lives of Rye’s citizens by volunteering services of an outstanding nature. The nominee cannot have been paid for the volunteer work and can’t be an elected official.
Nomination forms are available at the Rye Free Reading Room or can be downloaded from the Lions Club’s website. Completed forms may be dropped off at the Rye Free Reading Room, mailed to the Rye City Lions Club at P.O. Box 354, Rye, N.Y., 10580 or emailed to ryecitylions1@gmail.com.
Rye Arts Center, City Hall Art Exhibits
Rye City Hall and Gallery B at the Rye Arts Center will be featuring artwork exhibits by Meera Agarwal, winner of the Rye Arts Center’s 2024 Visionary Artist Award, into the fall.
Her “Intuition” and “Ripple” series will be on display at the City Hall exhibition through November. “Common Threads: Connecting with Kolam” will be on view in Gallery B at the Rye Arts Center through Sept. 28.
Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.
LLS Announces New Westchester, Fairfield Officers
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Board of Trustees for Westchester Fairfield has added new members to its board and to the board’s Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee appointments are: Board of Trustees chairperson Josh Nova, founding partner of Sprout Growth Services, Westport, Connecticut; and Board of Trustees vice chairperson Michael Haberman, president, Rock East Funding, Pleasantville, New York.
New trustees include Ronnie Ram, president, Inspiria Outdoor Advertising in Rye; Yuval Marcus, managing partner at Leason Ellis in White Plains; Shannon Murray Petruzello, principal and head designer of Shannon Murray Interiors in Rye, and Fred Robustelli, retired associate general counsel at General Electric in Chappaqua.
Sacred Heart Greenwich Names Advancement Director
Sacred Heart Greenwich has chosen Thomas A. McCarthy as its new director of advancement, effective Sept. 3. In his new role at the school, McCarthy will focus on strategic planning, fundraising, and alumni relations.
SPRYE Welcomes New Board Members
SPRYE welcomed five new Rye residents to its board of directors in July for three-year terms: Harvey Geller, Sarah Garrity, Lori Pitta, Allen Avrutin, and Margie French.
SPRYE is a membership-based not-for-profit that serves older adults in Port Chester, Harrison, Rye, and Rye Brook, offering programs and activities, and transportation to medical appointments.
