At last month’s Making for Strides for Breast Cancer Walk, which started and ended at Manhattanville College, over 16,000 people participated. And they raised over $1.6 million!
It was a sea of pink — with supporters wearing their color on shirts and hats and waving pink flags and banners. The firehouse on Anderson Hill Road gave out pink plastic fire hats.
Bill Lawyer, a member of the Rye Y Team organized by Rye Y Fitness staff member Tanya Stack, said the 4.5-mile course included a very scenic stretch along the Old Oaks golf course. The most challenging part was a steep uphill stretch on Anderson Hill Road heading up to Purchase Street, he said.
