Police Commissioner William Connors officially retired last week, after 33 years of public service. For the last 13 years, he served as City of Rye Police Commissioner. “Bill served with distinction,” said City Manager Scott Pickup, “and his selfless dedication to Rye will be missed.”
The City has appointed Lieutenant Robert J. Falk as Interim Police Commissioner and Commanding Officer, Patrol/Operations. Lieutenant Jeffrey J. Reichert has been designated Commanding Officer, Investigations/Administration. “They are our senior staff members and the logical choices to keep the department running at the same high level of quality,” said Pickup. “Both are taking on a lot of additional responsibility with these appointments, which we very much appreciate.”
Lt. Falk has been a member of the Rye Police Department for 32 years, Lt. Reichert for even longer, 34 years.
According to Pickup, the recruitment process for a permanent Police Commissioner is well underway, with the recently completed stakeholder meetings to update the candidate profile and position description for this key staff position.
