The Adult Education Committee of Rye Presbyterian Church invites the community to join them in a panel discussion with Imam Ibrahim Sayer and Imam Shamsi Ali as they address the topic of “Islam, Isis, and Us”, February 12 at 7:30.
Imam Ali is a renowned Muslim scholar and was an Imam of New York City’s largest mosque. He is Chairman of the Al-Hikmah Mosque in Astoria and Director of Jamaica Muslim Center in Queens. He serves as an advisory board member to many interfaith organizations, including the Tanenbaum Center and Federation for Middle East Peace.
Imam Sayer is the Director of the Center for Interfaith Affairs at Peace islands Institute and is also President of North East Islamic Community Center. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Harran University, Turkey, and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Concordia University in Chicago. He has been active in interfaith work for more than 12 years.
