SCHOOLS-IONAIona Preparatory School, the all-boys K-12 Catholic School in New Rochelle, is proud to announce that John F. Korzelius, Brian Degen, and Jack Sullivan have been accepted to Ivy League colleges/universities to continue their academic careers.

John (Jack) F. Korzelius has been accepted into Dartmouth College, where he will be playing for their Division I Lacrosse team. Jack, a resident of Purchase, has been a member of the Iona Prep Lacrosse program throughout his four years at the school and was selected team captain during his senior campaign. In addition to his stellar play on the field, Jack excelled in the classroom and was named Salutatorian of his class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, The Edmund Rice Society, and Student Faculty Council, and has made the summer Pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, with members of the Iona community.

Brian Degen has been accepted into Princeton University. Brian, a resident of Rye, has been an active member of the Iona Prep community since his freshman year. A scholar-athlete, Brian is a member of the Cross-Country, Track, and Tennis teams, all the while maintaining honor roll status and being a National Honor Society member. In addition to his athletic abilities, Brian is also captain of Iona Prep’s nationally ranked Forensics team, a Peer Minister, and Campus Minister. He has traveled the globe with Iona to perform community service, most recently as part of the school’s Mission Peru team.

Jack Sullivan has been accepted into Dartmouth College. Jack, also a resident of Rye, was named a National Merit Commended Scholar and given the distinction of AP Scholar with Honors in 2013. In addition to his academic achievements, he has been a member of Iona Prep’s nationally ranked Forensics Speech and Debate team and was named Vice-President of the program in his senior year. Jack is a member of the Indoor Track and Field team, co-editor and chief of The Gael Force, the student-run newspaper, a member of the Campus Ministry program, and a member of the National Honor Society. He participated in a service pilgrimage to Lourdes, France during the summer of 2013.

“This past year Iona Prep had a total of six students who were accepted to an Ivy League school,” said Brother Thomas R. Leto, President of Iona Preparatory School, “We are extremely proud of John, Brian, and Jack’s accomplishments over their four years at Iona Prep. Their hard work, both in and out of the classroom, has allowed them to shine academically, athletically, spiritually, and socially. The entire Iona Prep community wishes them much success as they begin a new chapter of their life.”
