The Jay Heritage Center announced a new guide map for visitors of the acclaimed Boston Post Road Estate on Thursday.
The guide, commissioned by the non-profit center, is expected to soon be mounted on kiosks at all entrance points and noted with “You Are Here” markers. It will also be made available online.
The goal is to It help visitors more confidently navigate the grounds, including sights and trails within the 23-acre property, the center wrote in an Instagram post unveiling the map.
“Mapmaker, mapmaker, make us a map! We’re ecstatic to announce that we have a new map of the Jay Estate created by acclaimed artist Nate Padavik,” the center also wrote in its post.
The map highlights the historic Jay Estate — as its centerpiece — while also integrating surrounding parcels that define the Boston Post Road Historic District, including the Marshlands Conservancy, the Jay Cemetery, Lounsberry, and Whitby Castle, according to Padavik.
“Enjoy newly mown trails and vantage points. Bring your dog (on-leash only please) and navigate this gem within Westchester County’s one and only National Historic Landmark District! the Instagram post added.
The Jay Center is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1990 to serve as stewards of the Jay Estate, the National Historic Landmark home of Founding Father John Jay.

“This is amazing! What a great resource,” one person commented on Instagram.
It is unclear how much the project cost.
Padavik has previously created works for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Savings Place, and Tufts University. He is also the co-founder of Illustrators For Hire, a curated director of freelance illustrators.
“Exploring the gardens and grounds of the Jay Estate was a summer highlight, Padavik posted online, adding that the grounds were “truly breathtaking.”
“It’s free and open to public and I highly recommend it as an easy trip from NYC,” he said.
