Judith’s Skin Care Institute on Locust Avenue has been servicing women’s cosmetic needs for 27 years thanks to its lovely namesake. “I really like the wonderful camaraderie here and I love making my clients feel wonderful,” said Judith Polatsek. “That’s what has kept me going all these years.”
Ask anyone of her clients and they’ll tell you the feeling is mutual. The genial skin care expert provides a cozy, relaxing atmosphere and a personal touch. She also offers years of experience that she acquired in her own former business in Hartsdale and in Henri Bendel skin care before that.
Her facials are pretty special. Not gimmicky or too techie, the hands-on hour-long facials are soothing and produce results. Her specialty is drastically reducing acne in both young and older adults. Polatsek likes to think she’s helping nature run its course by cleaning and unclogging pores, preventing inflammation and eruptions, while allowing the sebum naturally produced by oil glands to flow through and protect the skin.
Other services include light peels without harsh chemicals, electric muscle toning and light treatments that invigorate cellular reproduction. “I never claim that I can stop aging, but regular facial treatments definitely slow down the aging process, improve circulation, eliminate impurities and bring out natural nourishment,” she said.
Electrolysis at Judith’s Skin Care is also alive and well, despite the laser hair removal craze. Electrolysis is permanent and, unlike laser, it does not discriminate as it zaps both light and dark colored hair.
The proprietor is proud of the fact that she draws clients, not just from Rye and Harrison, but also from Riverdale, Hastings-on-Hudson, Armonk, and Elmsford. “The nice thing for Rye is that they leave their cars parked here and go shopping in town,” she said.
And for having gone to Judith’s Skincare, they feel and look like a million dollars.
