After two members of the Challenged Athletes Foundation shared their stories with Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s manager Pati Holmes and several agents at the Rye office, the agency wasted no time sponsoring a special event to raise money for the Foundation. The evening of June 3, 47 people, including 33 Sotheby’s agents, signed up for a spin cycle class taught by Mandy Brooks at SoulCycle. They pedaled their way to a successful fundraiser for CAF, which provides opportunities to athletic individuals with physical disabilities.
Holmes said she and agents Ken Harris, Peggy Shepard, and Susan McDonnell were inspired after meeting Amy Dixon, who is blind and recently won the US bronze medal in her division of the Pan American Triathlon Confederation paratriathlon championships in Dallas, and Sam Cila, a military veteran who lost his arm and now competes in extreme sports such as the Ironman triathlon.
“After learning about their extraordinary achievements of Amy Dixon and Sam Cila, we knew we had to get involved with the Challenged Athletes Foundation,” said Holmes. “I am proud of each of our agents for participating and giving their support to this meaningful cause.”
