Trish and Scott Shannon, of North Palm Beach and Purchase, N.Y., joyfully announce the wedding of their daughter, Kathleen Hunter Shannon and Benjamin Irving Mehr on Nov. 16, 2024.
Father Daniel O’Reilly, a longtime family friend, officiated the wedding at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated with great energy and happiness with family and friends at Westchester Country Club, where Kathleen is a second-generation member.
Kathleen attended Sacred Heart in Greenwich and graduated from the Rye Country Day School. She is a “double Hoo” and graduated with a B.A. and. J.D. from the University of Virginia. Ben earned a B.S. from Arizona State University and a J.D. from Pepperdine Law School.
Kathleen is a partner at Blank Rome, where she focuses on white collar defense and investigations and international trade matters. Ben is an associate at Dickinson Wright in the political law practice.
The couple met while working in the last Trump administration. Kathleen served as a senior advisor and counsel in the executive office of the president and Ben served as counsel in both the education and commerce departments.
Ben proposed to Kathleen on the Lost Tree Village Beach, where her parents live. It was a cloudy windy day and took some convincing to get her to go for a walk.
Following the wedding the couple honeymooned in South Africa and the Maldives. They currently reside in Washington, D.C.
