Senior Devon DiPalma was named Academic All-America for the boys’ lacrosse team, and received the top merit scholarship from Section 1.
Also receiving the prestigious national acclaim were seniors Emma Brinkman, Maddie Kinker, Annie Van Wagenen, and Tori Virtue. Scarlett Sulliman, a junior, also was named All-America as well as All-Tournament for her performance during State playoffs at SUNY Cortland.
The Rye girl laxers lost to Honeoye Falls-Lima, 12-9, in the semi-finals of the Class C State Championships after deadline June 8.
Coach Dennis Hurlie said, “They made a statement to the lacrosse community in New York State that the Garnets can play with any one. They took the coaching staff, the school, and the community for quite a ride over the past few weeks and they were most deserving.”
In other RHS lacrosse honors: Greg Stern was named All-Section; Chris Santangelo, Jack O’Brien, Peter White, and Megan Rogers received All-Section Honorable Mention. And Claire O’Callaghan was named All-League Honorable Mention.
