To the Editor:
We have been residents of Rye for the past 22 years and are the parents of a current Rye sophomore and three RHS alums. They and countless numbers of their friends over the years, have all had very positive experiences both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. A significant component of what draws families to Rye and what makes it such a special place to live is the quality of our schools.
During our time here, we have watched our district consistently deliver a high-quality learning experience to our students, as the vast majority of graduating seniors go off to attend some of the most prestigious universities in the country. Rye’s athletic program continues to flourish and consistently produces some of the most highly competitive teams in Westchester County and New York state, despite substandard facilities. By way of example, the existing gym floor is over 50 years old and outlived its useful life long ago.
We support the Rye City Schools for the incredible work they do to educate and help mold the children of our community into productive young adults. We ask you to please vote YES for the Rye City School Budget on May 21st, so our schools, teachers, coaches, and support staff can continue to offer all Rye families an academic and athletic experience and environment second to none.
