To the Editor:
I’m a Rye resident raising two young kids in our public schools and I’m proud to support the “All in for Rye,” Republican slate in this election: Bill Henderson for Mayor, Robin Jovanovich, Maria Shuck, and James Fee for City Council.
These candidates bring a powerful combination of experience, integrity, and a shared commitment to preserving what makes Rye special while preparing us for the challenges ahead.
I’ve gotten to know Bill Henderson personally and trust he’ll be the leader Rye so desperately needs. Bill currently serves on the Rye City Council and I’ve grown to admire his thoughtful leadership, collaborative nature, and deep commitment to public service. His legal background and decades of community involvement give him the insight and judgment needed to lead as Mayor. Bill understands the issues that matter most to us — from fiscal responsibility to preserving Rye’s character — and I know he’s ready to continue serving with transparency and dedication.
Most of us already know and love Robin Jovanovich. She spent nearly 25 years as publisher of The Rye Record, a role that has given her unparalleled insight into our city’s people, challenges, and triumphs. Robin’s deep roots in Rye and her commitment to civic engagement make her an easy first choice for City Council.
James Fee’s ability to dig into the details, speak up for fairness, and push for policies that reflect our values is most relevant. His involvement with the Rye Golf Club reflects his commitment to equity and transparency. He spoke out against the club’s two-tiered membership fee system, which charged newer members significantly more than long-time members. This kind of civic engagement is what we need on City Council. James isn’t just talking about good governance — he’s living it.
Maria Shuck brings a distinguished legal career to the table. She earned law degrees in both Sweden and here in the U.S. (Harvard) and she served as a partner in Sweden’s largest law firm, specializing in global corporate restructurings. Maria has also served as board chair of a number of professional and academic organizations. Now retired, she is ready to take on local government. No doubt Maria’s education and experience in and outside of the boardroom will serve her well on the City Council
What sets this group apart is their unified vision: to keep Rye safe, sustainable, and financially sound. They are committed to transparency, responsive government, and protecting the character
of our neighborhoods. They listen, they do their homework, and they show up — not just during campaign season, but year-round.
