Letter: Preserve Green Space

Letter to the Editor.
Rye Town Park

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my thoughts on the importance of preserving green spaces in our community.

Rye is known for its beautiful parks, shoreline, and open areas that provide residents with opportunities to relax, exercise, and connect with nature. As our city continues to grow, it is essential that we carefully consider how development may impact these valuable spaces.

Parks and natural areas are not just places for recreation — they contribute to our mental health, support local wildlife, and strengthen our sense of community. Families gather there, children play there, and neighbors connect there. Once open space is lost, it is nearly impossible to replace.

I encourage city leaders and residents to prioritize sustainable planning and conservation efforts. By protecting our green spaces today, we ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy the natural beauty that makes Rye such a special place to live.

Thank you for considering my perspective.
