On July 30, while traveling abroad, we received the terrible news that our dog, Livy, was lost, without her collar, from the home that she was staying in Harrison. We were thousands of miles away and totally helpless.
Fortunately, Judith, a close friend of ours, is a Rye resident and quickly jumped into action, calling the Rye Police Department, posting Livy’s picture and a notice of her disappearance on the Rye Moms Facebook page, and heading out in her car to look for her.
Reports that Livy had been sighted in Rye quickly started coming in on the Rye Moms Facebook page. This allowed Judith, her children, and other friends to narrow their search and gave us such relief and hope to know that she was alive. We later found out that a few members of the Rye Moms group also joined the search in their own cars or on foot.
Thankfully she was rescued by a kind Rye family who looked after her for 30-40 minutes until Judith was notified that she had been found.
We are so thankful for the kindness, concern, and action of the Rye Community, which was integral in bringing Livy home.
