To the Editor:

I’m proud to support Marion, Amy, James, and Josh — four strong Democrats — for city council and mayor. Together, they bring a remarkable 65 years of community service, reflecting wide-ranging involvement on the city council, in our schools, and on nonprofit boards. Their collective experience and dedication run deep, and Rye has benefited from their leadership in countless ways.

Marion skillfully co-chaired the effort to dedicate Rye MTA station plaza in honor of civil rights leaders and Rye residents M. Paul and Orial Redd. She served on many beloved Rye and regional nonprofit boards, including Kids S.P.A.C.E., Larchmont Rotary and the Westchester Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and has been a consultant and business owner for 29 years.

Amy brings integrity and a deep commitment to service. She brought Pollinator Pathways talks and workshops to the community as a member of the Rye Sustainability Committee. Now, while working as a registered nurse and raising two middle schoolers, Amy assists the nonprofit 5 Steps to Five working on strategic planning, experience that will serve Rye well as she brings that thoughtful perspective to comprehensive planning efforts. She is also a recipient of the Air Force Exemplary Civil Service Award.

I have been impressed by James’s visionary leadership on the Climate Smart Communities program, which helped Rye achieve bronze status, unlocking millions in grant opportunities, leadership recognition, and technical support for our city. In his first year on the City Council, he brings his work as a finance executive to benefit Rye, and should be reelected to a full term.

With experience as a current councilmember and former three-term president of the Rye City Board of Education, Josh Nathan knows what it takes to lead. He listens, does the work, understands Rye’s unique character, and brings people together to achieve a shared vision. In four years on the council, Josh has shown residents, city staff, and fellow councilmembers that he is respectful, calm, and fair-minded. His work has helped secure flood mitigation grants, protected downtown from overdevelopment, and ensured residents have energy choice instead of a Con Ed monopoly.

Each candidate brings energy, respect, and care for our community. What could be better than having their combined talents to help serve the Rye community for the next four years?

This election matters. Vote Row A for Democrats for Rye and Westchester County.
