To the Editor:

A lot has changed since 1985, when Rye last approved a comprehensive plan. The Berlin Wall fell, the iPhone was invented, screens are cheaper … and everything else is more expensive. But one thing hasn’t changed over those same 40 years: Rye has never passed an updated comprehensive plan.

This year, voters have the opportunity to change that. Josh Nathan, Marion Anderson, James Ward, and Amy Kesavan are running to deliver a comprehensive plan for Rye as a priority early in their term.

Why is this so important? A comprehensive plan is the essential launch point for solving the major issues we all care about: preventing overdevelopment, combatting flooding, and promoting parking solutions, cell service, and recreational opportunities. With a comprehensive plan, our city will no longer be jumping from crisis to crisis, but making strides toward a harmonious vision of the community we love.

After 40 years of waiting, I’m for voting in a team that is serious about getting that done. I recognize what it takes. Josh Nathan, Marion Anderson, James Ward and Amy Kesevan know too. They have a lifetime vision for Rye, and a breadth of experience — a total of 65 years of combined local volunteer service — which we need championing this initiative.

So, join me this Election Day in voting for a comprehensive plan by electing Josh Nathan as mayor and electing Marion Anderson, James Ward, and Amy Kesavan as council members.
