To the Editor:

We need Josh Nathan as the next mayor of Rye. He has the leadership temperament we need to take Rye forward. With a career devoted to public interest work as a lawyer for nonprofits, including as former general counsel of Channel 13, he knows how to bring people together and his track record of results as a volunteer leader in Rye shows it:

1. As a three-term president of the Board of Education, he helped Rye taxpayers navigate the great recession by cutting spending growth with tax-cap-compliant budgets before there was a tax cap, while still launching major initiatives, including foreign language study in elementary school, the science wing, and the addition of varsity crew. He settled a decade-long litigation and open union contracts by working with all the stakeholders.

2. On the Governor’s Storm Committee, Josh worked on the blueprint to combat flooding in Rye and to bring in a $3 million grant for storm resilience.

3. On the City Council, Josh Nathan is a steadfast advocate for collaborative discourse in our community, working across the aisle to bring the council desperately needed fairness and transparency reform. He consistently champions the needs of Rye residents, including flood mitigation, protecting against overdevelopment, challenging Con Ed rates at the Public Service Commission hearings, and more.

Josh is leading an impressive slate of candidates with over 65 years of local volunteer service, all endorsed by Congressman George Latimer. They are the only ticket with a unified vision for Rye, including comprehensive planning and flood mitigation for all of Rye.

Please join us in voting Josh Nathan for mayor, Rye’s future depends on it.
