Letter: Why the Purchase Street Disruption?

To the Editor:

I would like to know what Rye City official authorized the disruptive road work that essentially closed most entry points to Purchase Street during one of the busiest shopping days of the year on the day before Thanksgiving.

As far as I could see, there were no emergency circumstances in place that required re-paving on such a busy shopping day. Perhaps someone in our city government should look at a calendar once in a while.
