Three Lions Club Athletes of the Month were announced recently at Rye High School. On Monday June 11, the Lions Club will honor all nine of this year’s winners and their parents during an annual awards dinner at The Osborn. The Athlete of the Year will be honored, chosen by a vote of RHS students.
Three Lions Club Athletes of the Month were announced recently at Rye High School.
Kamal Narayanamurti-Logue was senior captain of the basketball team. He’s active with the Rye Youth Council Players Club, which discourages bullying and fighting. Logue made the honor roll all four years. He worked as a counselor and coach at Future Stars Basketball Camp.
Jennifer Lee is captain of the golf team, and qualified for State Championships for a third consecutive year. Since 2010, Lee has been an officer with Hearts out to Haiti, the Alzheimer’s Awareness Club, and Breast Cancer Awareness Club. Lee made high honors all four years. She worked at the House of Hope Orphanage in Ghana, Africa.
Jeff Dempsey was starting pitcher on the baseball team and captain of the varsity wrestling team. Dempsey was a member of the Student Council, and its Excellence Team, all four years. He taught school children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol as a mentor with Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse. He worked as a camp counselor with Rye Recreation.
