Midland fifth graders, under the direction of Leann and Loralyn Serao, brought the Pulitzer Prize-winning Frank Loesser musical, “Guys and Dolls” to life last month. Gamblers, dolls, and the Mission Band took the audience on an adventure through the streets of Manhattan in the 1930s. While performing memorable tunes like “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat,” the students learned a lesson or two about love and friendship along the way.
The production consisted of two casts, each with 50 students, who practiced for over two months. Their hard work paid off in spectacular performances that brought audiences to their feet.
