It is with great sadness that the family of Lynn Margaret Staley announces her passing on Oct. 23. Lynn was born on May 20, 1947, in New York, N.Y., to the late Lewis and Doris Mondshein. She grew up in Cresskill, N.J., and often reflected fondly on her childhood.
Throughout her life, Lynn found joy in helping others. She devoted her energy, kindness, and talents in various ways. Lynn had a fulfilling career as a physical education teacher and sports coach at the elementary and middle school levels beginning in Connecticut and later in the Rye City School District, while also raising her family.
For years she was an active volunteer with the 26th Twig organization and was a longtime, faithful member of the Rye Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and stephen minister.
Lynn loved playing and watching tennis, taking trips to warm destinations, and participating in different community groups, and, above all, she treasured spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, fantastic mother, adoring grandma, and genuine friend who maintained special and lasting relationships over her lifetime.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Claude; her son Paul (Bojana); her daughter Jill (Tim); and her grandsons, William, Alex, and Teddy. Lynn also leaves behind her beloved sister Caryl (Gene), and many dear nieces and nephews.
Lynn’s warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed. Burial will be private in upstate New York. A service to celebrate Lynn’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lynn’s name may be made to Rye Presbyterian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
