Marguerite Frank MacAulay, a lifelong resident of Rye, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 92.
Born in Port Chester on January 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Mary (Selzer) and Sidney J. Frank Sr. After graduating from Rye High School in 1944, she attended the Cochran School of Nursing and St. John’s University, where she studied Public Health. She was a proud member of the Cadet Nurse Corps and went on to a career as a public health nurse before becoming a school nurse for the Rye City School District.
On November 12, 1955, she married John Frederick MacAulay and they raised five children.
Mrs. MacAulay served as a Red Cross Disaster Coordinator for Southern Westchester. She was a longtime member of Rye Golf Club and a member of Rye Seniors and the St. Monica’s Mothers Club. Her other community activities included being a Rye Girl Scouts leader and a CCD teacher at Church of the Resurrection.
She traveled as often as she could — cruises to the Caribbean, especially Magens Bay in St. Thomas, Disney World with the grandchildren, and trips to Hawaii, her favorite destination.
As much as she loved her adventures, Rye was home. Her family has been in Rye since 1890, and she happily lived her entire life in Rye.
Mrs. MacAulay was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John MacAulay, and her brother, Sidney J. Frank Jr. She is survived by her children: Mary Agnes (Michael) Malter, John (Mary Beth) MacAulay, Claire MacAulay, Michael (Grace) MacAulay, and Elizabeth (Craig) DeLuca; her grandchildren: Meaghan (Brian) Serbin, Michael (Rachel) Malter, Elizabeth MacAulay, John Francis MacAulay, John Michael MacAulay, Monica DeLuca, Patrick MacAulay, Julia MacAulay, and Jessica MacAulay; and her great-grandchildren, Michael and Connor Serbin.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 29 at Church of the Resurrection.
