Mary C. Sheerin, a Devout Member of Resurrection Church, Dies at 103

Mary managed a hectic, active household of six children. After retiring she spent her time enjoying long walks, art classes, quiet moments, the company of her family, and a good book.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mary C. Sheerin on Oct. 8, at the age of 103, after living a rich and full life.

Mary was born on Feb. 16, 1921, in Manhattan to Eduardo Fernandez de Blanco and Constance Woodfine.

Mary met the love of her life and cherished husband of 48 years, Richard T. Sheerin in 1942 at Macy’s in Herald Square. They were married in June of 1943. Mary was known for her quiet strength and her love and support for her family and community. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of The Church of the Resurrection in Rye.

Mary managed a hectic, active household of six children. After retiring she spent her time enjoying long walks, art classes, quiet moments, the company of her family, and a good book.

Mary is preceded in death by her son Richard E. Sheerin (1972), her husband, Richard T. Sheerin (1991), and her daughter, Pat Byrnes (2011). She is survived by her daughters, Meg (Fenzi), Kate (Whalley), Beth (Brinkman), and her son, Michael T Sheerin (Carolyn), as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services are under the direction of Graham Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of the Resurrection on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m.
