The Kensington White Plains and the Music Conservatory of Westchester are proud to offer a complimentary monthly gathering.
What is a Memory Cafe?
A Memory Cafe, or a dementia-friendly cafe, is a gathering place designed specifically for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, or other forms of memory loss, along with their care partners and loved ones.
These cafes provide a relaxed, judgment-free environment where participants can connect with others navigating similar experiences.
This enriching program is designed for individuals showing early signs of mild memory loss and their caregivers. Participants will enjoy a variety of activities, recreation, peer support, and socialization, all complemented by uplifting music from a certified music therapist.
Features of Memory Cafe include:
- Structured programming: Engage in creative musical exercises that promote communication and reminiscence, led by a certified music therapist.
- Opportunities for connection: Share in meaningful conversations and build lasting relationships.
- Expert resources: Gain valuable tools and resources to take home.
- Complimentary lunch and refreshments.
The Kensington Memory Cafe is a structured yet welcoming space for residents to connect, engage their minds, and express their creativity. By providing this dedicated gathering space and programming, they aim to enhance the daily lives of aging adults and give their loved ones peace of mind.
The monthly cafe is staffed by a specially trained team who understands the challenges of memory loss and how to create a warm, supportive environment. The program represents a wide array of services and support available at The Kensington White Plains.
The Kensington is a premier assisted living and memory care community, serving aging adults and their families in Westchester County since 2011. They are privately owned and operated by a close-knit group of lifelong senior living career professionals. Their promise is “to love and care for your family as we do our own.” Every day, their team delivers more comprehensive care than what other assisted living providers offer. They offer two specialized levels of memory care that address the challenges unique to each phase of loss. Couples are welcome and can reside together in the same suite, even if their care needs differ. They warmly invite you to learn more and join The Kensington family.
Join them on the first Tuesday of every month for Memory Cafe. Deepen your bonds and cultivate new support networks in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
