Michael L. Cucchiara, a resident of Mamaroneck for more than 25 years, passed away at the age of 56. Born on April 3, 1968, in the Bronx, Michael was the son of Ralph and Kathleen (nee D’Alessandro) Cucchiara. His effervescent spirit and warm heart touched all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Michael graduated from Harrison High School in 1986, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Michael’s professional life was marked by his unwavering dedication to public service. For 31 years, he served as a career firefighter for the city of Rye, bravely protecting the lives and property of the community he cherished. His colleagues remember him as a man who led by example, always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty.

After retiring from the Rye Fire Department, Michael channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into his own business, MMC Landscaping Inc., which he owned and operated since 1996, where he continued to serve his community with pride.

Michael found his soulmate in Maureen Cucchiara, and together they built a beautiful life in Mamaroneck. Their 29-year marriage was filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Michael was a guiding light in the lives of his two sons, Brian and Kevin, instilling in them values of courage, compassion, and the importance of family.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Maureen, sons Brian Cucchiara, of Mamaroneck, and Kevin Cucchiara, of Edgewater, Fla.; his loving mother Kathleen Cucchiara, of Greenville, S.C.; his sister Denise Chase, of Greenville, S.C.; and his brother Peter Cucchiara, of Miami, Fla.

Aside from his professional achievements, Michael was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the serenity of freshwater fishing and the thrill of casting lines in the Florida Keys. His love for fishing was only matched by his love for his family, with whom he cherished spending time. Whether it was a quiet day by the water or a lively family gathering, Michael was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at the Church of the Resurrection on Tuesday Jan. 21, at 10 a.m.
