Midland Fair Super-Powered by Super Hero Theme and Parade

Kids bounced in bouncy castles and munched on cotton candy at the Annual Midland Fair on April 27, enjoying the Superhero theme and a parade through town.

Accompanied by local officials and the Rye fire and police departments, students and parents made their way down Purchase Street to Midland School for the start of the annual fundraising event.

The fair kicked off with the dunk tank, and the first good sport/victim was Midland Principal James Boylan, who was dunked on the first throw. Children enjoyed the inflatables, particularly the Meltdown Knockdown, as well as face painting, sand art, and the cake walk, in which participants compete to win a cake. The Japanese food and games station pulled in large crowds.

“The fair is not possible without the help of dozens of volunteers — parents, teacher, and middle and high school students — who generously donate their time and efforts to support the event,” said Fair Co-Chair Valerie Lapham. “Additionally, the Midland PTO is so grateful for the 20 local sponsors and proud supporters, whose donations helped cover the rising costs of goods and services that make the fair so special.”

Profits from the fair will be used by the Midland PTO to fund academic enrichment, field trips, campus beautification, teacher appreciation, STEAM activities and more at Midland Elementary School.

In addition to Lapham, the fair was co-chaired by Melissa Gannon, Rosa Rotondi, Joseph Greco, and Nicole Sherwood.
