Resurrection School kindergarteners completed another successful space mission last month.
In a program created by teacher Mrs. Laura Romeo, the children learn about the solar system, create a spaceship, and then “blast off” at the Resurrection Space Center. This year, in addition to a crowd of proud parents and grandparents, Dr. Timothy McNiff, Superintendent of Schools of the Archdiocese of New York, joined in the celebration, as Mrs. Romeo and Ms. Siefring led 35 young astronauts in songs and facts.
NASA has recognized the curriculum and invited Mrs. Romeo to join the GISS Education Ambassador Network, a new STEM educator community located at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City. As an Ambassador, she will have the opportunity to attend seminars, workshops, and webinars with NASA Education Specialists and Subject Matter Experts, as well as scientists and engineers.
