The Rye/Blind Brook swimming and diving team wasted no time getting their feet wet to start the season, competing in three meets in a five-day span.
The team was outscored 92-79 by Yonkers on Dec. 13, but several swimmers claimed individual event wins and set new personal bests.
Rye’s Michael Hamlet and Blind Brook’s Jackson Rindahl both recorded new bests in the 500-meter freestyle.
Rye Sophomore Kieran Moran won the 100-meter fly and 200-meter individual medley, earning a spot in the Sectional championship meet in the 100 fly.
Other Rye winners were Finn Hansen (diving), Michael Ladyzhensky (100 freestyle) and Nick Stocks (100 backstroke).
The team fell to Pelham, by a score of 99-63 on Dec. 11, but started the season on a strong note with a 55-35 win over Yorktown/Somers on Dec. 9.
Stocks won two events (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle), and Ladyzhensky again led the field in the 100 freestyle. Other Rye winners in the opener were Rye’s Wilson Redd (50 freestyle), and Blind Brook swimmers George Papaioannou (100 fly) and Jake Radwaner (100 breaststroke).
