The long-awaited Winfield Street Coffee opened in Rye on June 13, only to close less than two weeks later.

The new coffee shop at the Rye Metro-North station announced on Instagram last Wednesday that it would be temporarily closed as they complete their “final inspections with the MTA” and “wrap up the last steps” in their buildout.

“Rye: We’ll Be Right Back,” the Instagram post read.

The MTA added “an additional inspection,” Winfield owner Breno Donatti told The Record. He had to get sign-offs from 7-8 engineers, the state liquor authority, and the county Health Department.

The last signatory is on vacation, Donatti said, but as soon as he signs, Winfield plans to reopen.

The coffee shop had just had its soft opening, operating on limited hours serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, and pastries.

Its arrival came after seven years of negotiations with the MTA, pandemic-related pushbacks, and bureaucratic hurdles.

Once it reopens, Winfield plans to expand to its full hours of 6 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekends — and start serving beer, wine, and cocktails.

“We’re SO close,” the Instagram post read, “and even more exciting: we’ll be reopening soon with our full bar officially launched! 🍸🍷🍺 “

The Winfield Instagram account told its followers to “stay tuned right here on Instagram” for their reopening date.

“😭😭 can’t wait to head back soon!!!” one user commented on the post.
