New Aquatics Director on Board at Rye Y
The Rye YMCA is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Corcoran as its new Aquatics Director. Tim joined the staff just as the Y’s two pools closed due to flood damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Nevertheless, he dove into his new role with enthusiasm, helping his co-workers with flood recovery, finding alternative locations for Y swimmers, and making plans for when the pools reopened.
Growing up in Stamford, Tim and his three siblings were avid swimmers by the time they reached high school. As a teen, he was a four-time All American in the 100 Butterfly and 200 Medley relay. He was also a national age group champion in both the 100 and 200 Butterfly and two-time Junior National silver medalist in both events as well.
“Swimming was my passion,” Corcoran remarked. “Through it I learned that success is a process, a mindset that takes goal setting, routine, and resilience. These characteristics have been of great influence in my life and career and something I try to pass on to my employees, young athletes, and facility members.”
Corcoran began his career in 2004 as the Aquatics Director and Head Swimming and Water Polo Coach at the Country Club of New Canaan while serving as the Head Age Group coach of the New Canaan YMCA. In 2012, he founded Life Fit, LLC, a personal training studio in Wilton, Conn., which he owned and managed until 2021. Most recently, he was Aquatics Supervisor at Westchester Country Club Beach Club.
