A New Rochelle man was caught allegedly doing “donuts” with a Hummer and tearing up a field at the city’s Rye Recreation property on Saturday, according to police.
Rye police were on the receiving end of multiple calls shortly before 7 p.m. about someone driving in circles at a high rate of speed — called doing donuts — on the grassy field in front of the Rye Recreation main building, located at 281 Midland Ave.
The vehicle, a black Hummer H3, was identified in the vicinity by police and the driver, James D. Wilson, was arrested in connection the property damage and charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

The New Rochelle resident was processed and released on his own recognizance. Wilson, 45, is scheduled to appear in Rye City Court on July 1.
