Two sisters from New York City were arrested for attacking a woman at the bus stop on Purchase Street on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Shaniqua Tanner, 36, and her sister, 37-year-old Shavonne, were taken into custody by Rye police around 3:15 p.m. on April 11 after allegedly attacking a woman while she was walking away from the bus stop.
Police were responding to a 911 call.
The victim and Shaniqua Tanner, according to police, are in an internship program at The Enclave at Rye Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Port Chester, located at 1000 High St. They were walking from the bus stop on Purchase Street — near the Cedar Street intersection — to the Rye train station when Shaniqua Tanner and her sister attacked the victim.
Although EMS was called to the scene, she declined any medical attention. The victim sustained minor injuries, according to police.
Police ruled the incident as isolated since the parties knew each other. Both alleged attackers had no prior criminal history.
The sisters were both placed charged with misdemeanors for assault. They were released and are expected back in Rye City Court on April 29.
The Record could not reach The Enclave for comment on Tuesday.
