Noble Pies has stopped selling its sweet and savory pies in Rye.
Since opening here in December 2021, the Warwick, New York-based bakery had tried to make its business work in two different Rye locations — first a big bakery cafe on Purdy Avenue and then moving to a smaller spot on Purchase Street.
Co-Owner Zachary Bonder lamented the outlets’ failure.
“Unlike our other shops, this store saw most of its business concentrated around holidays, with less consistent daily foot traffic,” he said. “Our model thrives in communities that offer a strong balance of local support and tourism throughout the week. Additionally, the increasing property taxes in the area placed added financial strain on this location.”
The company continues to operate stores in Tarrytown, Beacon, Warwick, and Greenwood Lake.
Because the business is small, family-run, and labor-intensive (all their pies are made from scratch), the family decided to focus its energy where it would have the most impact, Bonder said.
“We’re deeply grateful for everyone who supported us here, and we look forward to continuing our growth in new locations where we can better serve our customers year-round,” he said.
