NYC Woman Arrested by Rye Police After Stealing From Purchase Street Storefront

An elderly woman from New York City was arrested by Rye police Friday after apparently stealing less than $60 worth of merchandise from a Purchase Street store. 

Ann Marie Cunningham, 77, turned herself into police after an investigation revealed she had allegedly walked out of Dabney Lee – a lifestyle brand and design studio, according to its website, located at 31 Purchase St. – with merchandise she did not pay for last month. 

Police were initially notifIed around 3 p.m. on Sept. 26 of a report of stolen goods at the storefront. The suspect, identified as Cunningham, had stolen $58 worth of merchandise, according to police. She was charged with petit larceny.

Cunningham was released on her own recognizance and is due back in Rye City Court on Oct. 29.
