Barbara Hall Richardson of Rye, N.Y. passed away on October 13, 2019 at the age of 81.
Born in Oak Hall, Virginia, on November 24, 1937, she was the daughter of Claude and Agnes (Taylor) Hall. After graduating from Snow Hill High School, class of 1955, she went on to Johns Hopkins University, from which she received a degree in Nursing. She began her working career at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
On September 22, 1962, she married James Richardson. While raising a family, she was a dedicated volunteer with The Twig, Rye Girls Softball, United Hospital, Rye Presbyterian Church, Westchester Golf Classic, Cub Scouts of America, Rye Little League, and American Cancer Society.
She was also active in the Johns Hopkins Alumni Society and Registered Nurses of America.
An avid baseball fan — the NY Mets, Rye Softball and Little League — and coach, Barbara Richardson was “a student of the game”.
“Our mother was also enormously helpful, kind, and humble, always giving,” said her children.
Mr. Richardson died on August 5, 2016. She is survived by her children, James Richardson Jr. of Rye, and Cindy Ryan of Hull, Mass.; and five grandchildren: Taylor and Lyndsay Ryan of Burlington, Vt., and Molly, James III, and Tommy Richardson of Rye.
A Memorial service will be held Sunday, November 3 at 1 p.m. at Rye Presbyterian Church.
