Betty Seicol
Betty Jean Seicol passed away peacefully on November 18, 2019. Born in 1926 to Samuel and Elsie Friedman in Los Angeles, she was an only child who was raised by her adoring parents to enjoy the outdoors.
She attended UCLA, leaving to marry Noel Seicol in 1946, following him east as he finished medical school.
In 1954, the Seicols settled in Rye, and Betty quickly became part of the community. She was the first woman president of Rye Community Synagogue, and, as an active member of the League of Women Voters, helped prevent the Rye to Oyster Bay bridge from being built.
A longtime member of Rye Golf Club, golf and tennis kept her busy during the day and trips to theater occupied many of her evenings. Once the NY baseball Giants left, the Mets were her team to follow, along with the Giants of football.
She will be missed by her three adoring children, Sam (Jennifer), Johanna (Nicholas), and David (Lorraine); her seven grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren.
Donations in Betty Seicol’s memory may be made to any Alzheimer’s research association. A Memorial service will be celebrated at a date to be determined.
