The home of Jane and Brendan O’Sullivan was trimmed with joyous volunteer spirit for the Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry holiday party December 8. Supporters of this wonderful nonprofit came bearing donations and bundles of disposable diapers for families in need. The bundles were delivered to appreciative families at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester a few days later.

Helping Hands fills a great many needs — filling Empty School Bags every August, supplying new underwear to residents of homeless shelters through its Undie Fundie program, providing Third Thursday sandwiches, and serving up Dinner at Noon on Saturdays.

While everyone was celebrating another year well done, Jane Sullivan singled out one especially dedicated volunteer, State Senator George Latimer. “Despite his busy schedule in Albany, George never misses a month making sandwiches and loading and unloading cars.”
